Bath bubbles, oils, salts, and infusions!

Spa Bath

  • 1/2 cup dried rosemary
  • 1/2 cup dried sage
  • 2 tablespoons oatmeal
Add ingredients to bath tub while filling with warm water. Soak for 15 minutes.

Put ingredients into a cloth or mesh bag to keep the tub clean. A second option is to throw in the ingredients and after the tub is drained of water use as a gentle abrasive cleaner. To do this just sprinkle baking soda over the herbs and scrub with a sponge or brush. Rinse the baking soda down the drain and clean out remaining herbs with a sponge or paper towels.

Egyptian Milk Bath

  • 1 cup dried milk powder
  • 6 drops myrrh essential oil
Add essential oil to milk. Add to bath water.

Change this milk bath by adding a different essential oil.

De-stress Herb Bath

  • 4 tablespoons dried lavender
  • 4 tablespoons dried lemon balm
  • 2 tablespoons dried mint
Measure all herbs into a muslin bag and leave in bath water.

You could also make an infusion and strain the herbs out before pouring into your bath water. Just don't boil the herbs, because that could damage the healing qualities in the oils.

Rose Bubble Bath

  • 3 1/2 cups clear, dishwashing soap
  • oil from 5 capsules of vitamin E oil
  • 1/4 cup glycerin
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 25 drops rose fragrance oil
  • 7-10 drops red food coloring
Mix all ingredients gently, to avoid foam, until sugar is dissolved. Pour into decorative bottle and seal.

The glycerin and sugar really enhance the quality of bubbles! You could also leave out the food coloring and add some small dried roses.

Bath Salt Recipe

  • 1 cup Epsom salts
  • 1 cup sea salts
  • 10 drops peppermint oil
  • 5 drops eucalyptus oil
  • 5 drops blue food coloring
Measure the Epsom salts and coarse salt in a jar. Add the choice of fragrance oil and color into the jar with the salts. Place the lid on securely. Shake the jar to blend the oil and color. The salts can be packaged in the glass jar or in cellophane bags. Try creating your own labels!

The eucalyptus oil makes this recipe especially nice when you have a cold.

Bubble Bath

  • 1 cup canola oil
  • 1/2 cup unscented dishwashing liquid
  • 10 drops essential oil of choice
Blend oil and soap with whisk. Add essential oil and blend again. Add 1/4 cup under warm water.

Makes a moderate amount of bubbles and leaves skin soft.

Bubble Bath II

  • 1 cup unscented dishwashing liquid
  • 1/4 cup glycerin
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 15 drops essential oil of choice
Blend all but the essential oil. Add essential oil and blend again. Add 1/4 cup under warm water.

Makes a better showing of bubbles and leaves skin soft.

Cinnamon Orange Bath Oil

  • 1/2 cup almond oil
  • 1/2 cup castor oil
  • oil from 7 vitamin E capsules
  • 1 cup safflower oil
  • 20 drops sweet orange oil
  • cinnamon stick
Blend oils together and pour into a glass container with a secure lid. Shake or stir contents every day for 7 days. Put the cinnamon stick (whole or broken up, depending on size of bottle) into a decorative bottle. Pour oil mixture over the cinnamon.

You can also put dried orange slices in the bottle with the cinnamon if there is room.
