Antipodes
Pliny states that in a certain large valley in the Himalayas there is a region called Albarimon where the people have their feet turned backwards. They are very fast, and run with the animals. These men cannot breathe in other climates, and could not be brought to other places. Isidore of Seville tells us that in Libya (the generic name for Northern Africa) there is a race whose feet are turned backwards, and they have 8 toes on each foot. |
