Camelopard

Description Described as half-camel and half-leopard.

 

Might be It is actually a giraffe.

 

Described By: Early Romans sought to describe giraffes by using the combination of the shape of a camel with the coloration of the leopard.  Archbishop Trent writes: "It is a creature combining, though with infinitely more grace, yet some of the height and even the proportions of a camel, with the spotted skin of the pard."


 

Related to In heraldry, similar creatures were:

Allocamelus- (ass-camel)- the body of a camel with the head of an ass.

Cameolpardel- like the camelopard, but with two horns curved backwards.  (pictured above)
