Cerberus

| Description |
Cerberus, in Greek mythology, was a 3-headed hound, with a snake for
a tail. Alternatively, he is described as having 50 heads, or 3 heads
with a mane of snakes. In most pictures though, he appears with 3
heads.

| Features |
Cerberus guarded the underworld, which is where the Greeks thought
people went when they died. He would not allow anyone who had died to
go back to the land of the living. One of the tasks which Hercules had
to perform was to bring Cerberus back to the world of the living,
which he did (pictured above.) Cerberus was the offspring of Echidna and Typhon,
who also parented the Hydra and the
Chimera.
