Tailed men

Many old stories tell of tribes of men with tails, particularly in Borneo, Java, and Ceylon.  Pliny tells of men in Ceylon who had long hairy tails. (See more legends of Ceylon.)   Peter Martyr tells of a race in Inzaganin who had such tails, but could not move them and had to sit on chairs with holes in them.  Similarly, a writer on Borneo reports of a trader telling him that on the northeast corner of Borneo there were men with tails that were 4 inches long and they required special seats. Marco Polo tells of men in Lambri (probably Sumatra) whose tails are about a palm in length, and about the width of a dog's tail but with no hair on them.  Another story tells of  the Niam Niams, from Abyssinia that have 2 inch tails.
